The stages of journeying to becoming parents is an overwhelming but life-changing experience that can be positive for both parents. Feeling supported and heard is important and empowers the family that their decisions and choices of birthing are being met. A birth support person and doula is with you prior to your birth and can be a part of your birth experience and after your birth for home care support. Pregnancy and birthing are unpredictable, and it's important to be informed about how your pregnancy and birth is going. The initial visits prior to your birth and 9-month journey are to make informative decisions that are what your needs are. Hands-on support is also available should someone choose during their labour to help relieve pain, provide comfort, be an advocate on your behalf, keep the environment calm for you, and help with recovery. Home care support can be an option for those who live additional help at home with breastfeeding, meals and sleep recovery.
