Giuseppe Parziale

Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying)

Giuseppe Parziale is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario with an extensive clinical background in Psychology from Italy, and he completed a Master's Degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Giuseppe’s level of education from Italy entails a Bachelor of Science in Psychobiology and Cognitive Psychology and a Master of Science in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of Padua, a post-graduate diploma in Forensic Science from CIELS campus affiliated with the University of Padua. He received a full equivalency of his foreign studies through the School of Continuing Studies at the University of Toronto. Furthermore, he is currently studying for the Clinical Traumatologist designation at the Traumatology Institute of Toronto, directed by Dr. Anna Baranowski. Since 2016, Giuseppe has been a general member of the Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals (OAMHP – former OACCPP).

Giuseppe also holds a varied range of certificates of specialization and workshops regarding the areas of Trauma, Substance Abuse and counselling for First Responders. Giuseppe’s vocational history as a Mental Health Professional begins in Italy: working for different public and non-profit agencies, local correction departments, as an intern at the Criminal Psychiatric Hospital of Castiglione Delle Stiviere, residential counsellor for youth at risk, project manager for Respite programs. Upon his arrival in Canada in 2014, Giuseppe continued to follow his professional calling by working within the area of Mental Health in Canada. He has covered different clinical roles as a psychometrist with the MVA population, residential and intake coordinator for individuals who have struggled with addiction, and project manager for the Neurologic Rehabilitation Institute of Ontario (Bayshore – formerly NRIO).

While Giuseppe’s clinical practice is shaped by foundational principles of Psychodynamic and trauma-focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), he firmly believes in an integrated and eclectic clinical approach that is tailored to the individual’s needs. Therapeutic goals are established within a collaborative, non-judgmental and empathetic framework since the therapist and the client is both “fellow travellers” – Irvin D. Yalom (2017). Indeed, within the therapy room, Giuseppe also uses principles of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy (NT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Furthermore, he often uses metaphors which have been used as an empowering tool, a positive and pragmatic way for clients to express their experiences (Kopp, 2013).

Working within the Mental Health field has been a vocational calling for Giuseppe, as he strives to systematically carry forward to the profession an immersive level of commitment and dedication. As a Trauma Informed and Client-centered therapist, for the last decade, Trauma and Substance Abuse have been areas of specialization but not limited to where Giuseppe has been able to compassionately encourage and empathetically support clients to move through the stages of uncomfortable change and ultimately reconnect with themselves and others. Giuseppe has been helping a different array of clinical populations, working with individuals who have struggled with Depression, Anxiety, Childhood Trauma, Borderline Personality Disorder, Grief, Substance Abuse and Maladaptive Coping, Suicidal Ideation, Vocational and Relational obstacles, Stress Management, Anger Management and Self-Esteem issues. Moreover, for the last 4 years, Giuseppe has tenaciously supported First Responders to navigate through the horrific memories that trauma disorders such as PTSD can leave behind and helped them to “rekindle” what they thought was lost.
